Processes of conservation and monitoring for a sustainable fruition and enhancement of a theatre-sanctuary complex: the case of Solunto
The research will focus on topics related to sustainability and reflexivity in conservation, fruition and enhancement of archaeological/theatrical heritage and sites. It will be based on the study of the theatrical buildings both in their current state and context, and through the whole documentation of past excavations and restorations.
Point of departure will be the theatre-temple complex of Solunto, which is related to a current excavation and study project of the whole archaeological context by the researchers of the University of Palermo. This gives the opportunity to deal with ongoing research on field, and to integrate the latest results into the new enquiry.
The aim is to cross-compare conservative interventions and to develop integrated approaches to material and cultural features, to diagnostic, conservation and fruition, and to draft proposals and protocols for planned conservation and monitoring.
For further information on the project, please contact Prof. Elisa Chiara Portale (chiara.portale@unipa.it).
